A few months ago now our Head Designer Lesley Stevens entered some new designs into a competition for Tigerprint. The brief was to design contemporary surface patterns for a female recipient that could be used across a range of products such as gift bags, wrapping paper, stationery products and greeting cards.
At Decorque we have a definite style and we like to, where possible use existing designs and ideas that we have had to create new, exciting and inspiring works. We like to include photographic flowers and elements, textures, a mixture of handpainted and CAD design all brought together to create something, we feel is very unique.
So here are the designs Lesley submitted, we thought we’d share these gorgeous works as they didn’t win (we can’t think why, not that we are biased or anything!!) but also to find out if you think we should add them to our collection of handcrafted cards? As they lend themselves to having parts die-cut out, stuck on in relief and even having a glass gem or too added.
The first design is called Aqua Butterfly Blossom, and takes soft aqua tones, mixed with a subtle animal print and flowers, with a hint of cork to create the foliage and soft butterflies, creating a design ideal for any occasion. We also think this would look amazing on coordinating gift bags and wrapping paper alongside a greeting card!
The second design is inspired by Lesley’s love of jewellery and is called the Rose Pink Jewelled Tree. It has a more feminine feel to it, incorporating jewellery items into a delicate tree formation. Again ideal for any occasion, but I can see this one working perfectly for Mother’s Day or a Birthday.
We’d love to know what you think of these two designs, and get in touch if you have a specific card in mind that you need for an occasion. Decorque may just be able to help with the new range of handcrafted cards selling so well, and Lesley may even be able to make to order!
