I love designing new calendars that will take us through a new year. Last year’s was based on wildlife, nature and florals, this year it is time for tea…. or coffee if you prefer!
Each month has a fabulous, beautifully designed china teacup and saucer with a scrumptious muffin and a checked napkin. Set in a white circle with decorative borders it stands out in a black frame. The design and patterns reflect the months they represent in some way as you will see.
Be wise in JANUARY as these wonderful Barn Owls welcome you into the New Year! Hand painted, these amazing birds decorate the cup, set in a warm grey ombre background with a matching-coloured saucer. Perched on branches the owls form a circular frame. A delicious, garnished muffin and lilac checked napkin complete this January scene.
A brighter FEBRUARY is celebrating Valentines Day with gorgeous hearts, birds and stunning red roses. A black, red and white cup and saucer makes a stunning centerpiece with an iced muffin and red and white checked napkin.
MARCH is the design featured on the front of the calendar. A water-colour ethnic patterned striped cup in blues sits on a blue and white gingham napkin. Around the white circle are stylized flowers in blues with black and white paisleys.
APRIL, it must be Eastertime, a boiled egg for breakfast with your beautiful floral-patterned cup of tea. The yellow and white gingham napkin reflects the glow of the Spring flowers, primroses and daffodils forming a circular garland.
MAY blossoms, with my favourite magnolia flowers adorn this pretty blue cup reflecting the blue sky of Spring. A pink gingham napkin matches nicely with the blue and pink muffin case. Magnolia, blossom and forget-me-nots form a pretty frame separating the black and white to finish this design.
JUNE is all about the seasonal fruits, cherries, and strawberries freshly picked for Wimbledon later in the month. A very fruity muffin is ready to enjoy with tea from this china cup embellished with strawberries and green leaves, sitting on a green and white napkin. More strawberries and blossom form a circular garland around this pretty table setting.
JULY is when all those garden flowers should be at their best in full bloom for the rest of the Summer. Reflecting this, a circular herbaceous border with clematis, roses and delphiniums surrounds a delightful afternoon tea. The fresh green colour on the cup and saucer, muffin case and checked napkin just say ‘Summer’.
AUGUST shows a pink and lilac hand painted floral design with butterflies fluttering around. This is a very smart afternoon tea with matching patterns on both the cup and muffin case coordinated with a lilac checked napkin.
SEPTEMBER is cooling down and pale lemon-turquoise roses are past their best, fading in colour as the Summer is ending. The cup is a stunning design as the delicate roses and butterflies stand out on black. They make a lovely garland with autumn fruits too.
OCTOBER is Autumn for me, with lots of pumpkins at their best for Halloween, they even adorn the cup and part of the garland with Autumn leaves. This teatime has a warmer feel with a delicious muffin festooned in nuts.
NOVEMBER is here, and there is a definite feel for Christmas with rabbits and squirrels nestling in the decorative foliage. Beautiful green, turquoise and blue foliage covers the cup and garland with cones, acorns and bows. A turquoise and white checked napkin is ready for you to enjoy the delicious muffin.
DECEMBER, yes, it’s Christmas time! Baubles, mistletoe, holly and bows make a festive garland surrounding the ‘partridge in a pear tree’ special cup. The treat is a seasonal fruit cake muffin, iced and topped with edible holly and berries. Enjoy!
