This fabulous blank decorative card is all hand painted, handmade and printed in the studio. The parakeets are in a prominent place in their natural habitat set in a circle on a an all over pretty water-colour floral of pink flowers and soft green leaves, a unique combination bringing together both sides of my work; pattern in the form of a textile design and a painting of nature. One of the new ‘Birds in Pattern’ range of cards.
These tropical birds are now quite common in this country; they didn’t get here under their own steam but were introduced over the years by the pet trade. We have them in the University Parks in Oxford, and they can be spotted or heard, a distinctive screeching sound, in London and Kent. This design is also featured on my 2026 desk calendar, where the tropical Parakeets fly in for August!
